Jinggoy lauds Filipina billiards player Chezka ’The Flash’ Centeno for reclaiming WPA 10-Ball World Championship

SENATOR Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada has filed a resolution commending Filipina billiards player Chezka “The Flash” Centeno for her remarkable victory in the 2025 World Pool Association (WPA) Women’s World 10-Ball Championship recently held in Bali, Indonesia.

The 26-year-old billiards prodigy from Zamboanga City, who emerged as the champion among 64 of the world’s finest cue artists, also etched her name in sports history by becoming only the second Filipina to capture the prestigious world title.

She joins the ranks of legendary Rubilen Amit, whom she defeated in the competition, in claiming multiple world titles following her own 2023 championship victory. Amit previously won the same title in 2009 and 2013.

“Centeno’s triumph is another proud moment for the nation and a stellar milestone for Filipina athletes, who continue to demonstrate their grit, resilience, and excellence before a global sports audience. She deserves the warmest congratulations from the Filipino people for her exemplary display of sportsmanship and remarkable performance, and for bringing immense pride and honor to the country,” Estrada said in his Senate Resolution No. 159.

Estrada noted Centeno’s inspiring journey in the sport, having started playing pool at the age of five and representing the country at the young age of 11 in the Philippine National Games. She later joined the Kremlin Cup in Russia at the age of 12, displaying exceptional skill and discipline that would eventually propel her to international recognition.

Throughout the competition in Bali, Centeno showcased remarkable consistency and mental fortitude, defeating several top-ranked players, including defending champion Kristina Tkach of Russia and compatriot Amit in an all-Filipino finals showdown.

Centeno’s latest triumph adds to her impressive list of achievements, which includes a 2023 WPA World 10-Ball Championship title in Austria, a silver medal in the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China; and four gold medals from the Southeast Asian Games in various pool events. As of October 15, 2025, she ranks seventh in the world in the WPA rankings.

“Centeno’s victory is not just a personal milestone but a proud moment for every Filipino,” Estrada said. “Her perseverance, talent, and integrity in sports embody the best qualities of our athletes and serve as an inspiration to the youth who dream of making their mark on the world stage.”

The Senate resolution underscores the chamber’s continued support and recognition of Filipino athletes who exemplify excellence and bring prestige to the country in international competitions.

“The Flash has once again proven that Filipino women can rise, compete, and win with integrity, courage, and heart, Estrada added.
