PHOTO RELEASE: Introductory call

Introductory call: H.E. Catherine Rosemary McIntosh, Ambassador of New Zealand to the Philippines, pays an introductory call on Sen. Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada at the Senate on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Among the matters discussed were enhanced defense cooperation—particularly the impending Senate concurrence in the ratification of the Status of Visiting Forces Agreement (SOVFA)—as well as inter-parliamentary relations, maritime security, and regional defense cooperation. The Philippines and New Zealand share a long-standing relationship established in July 1966, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year. Estrada was among those who actively participated in establishing the Philippine–New Zealand Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Senate in 2023, aimed at fostering closer inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthening bilateral relations, and promoting cooperation between the two nations.
