‘Binalahura mo ang sambayanan’: Alice Guo faces fuming senators after escaping probe

(ABS-CBN NEWS) MANILA — Over 3 months since her last appearance at the Senate, dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was forced to face senators, who were fuming over her disappearance and supposed “lies”.

Guo, who was arrested in Indonesia on Sep. 3 and brought back to the Philippines on Sept. 6, arrived at the Senate on Monday morning after a Tarlac court ordered her to attend the Senate Committee on Women’s probe into crimes linked to POGOs.

At the start of the the hearing, senators did not hold back at lambasting Guo.

“Alice, binastos mo at binalauhura mo ang buong gobyerno, ang buong sambayanang Pilipino,” Sen. Joel Villanueva said.

(Alice, you disrespected and degraded the Philippine government and the Filipino people.)

“Alice Guo, sino ka ba talaga? Alam na naming lahat na hindi ka Pilipino… You were under oath but you fearlessly fabricated stories and fed Filipinos a pack of lies,” Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said.

“Humarap siya sa Senado at tahasang nagsinungaling… Kahit anong pagpapa-cute niya, hindi matatanggal ang katoitohang ito,” said Sen. Risa Hontiveros, who is leading the probe.

Guo and her “siblings” Shiela and Wesley allegedly left the Philippine by boat during the early weeks of July. The group travelled across Southeast Asia, before ending up in Indonesia where Shiela and Alice were eventually arrested. Wesley has yet to be located.

Monday’s panel hearing is expected to focus on Guo, who abandoned the probe after her last attendance on May 22.
