(GMA NEWS) Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo on Monday insisted that she has no relationship with Sual, Pangasinan Mayor Liseldo Calugay as the Senate continued its probe into her alleged link to a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators hub in her town.
Guo said she is friends with Calugay when Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada asked about her relationship with the Sual town mayor.
“Higit sa pagkakaibigan?” Estrada asked.
(More than friendship?)
“Kaibigan,” Guo replied. “Hindi ko po siya boyfriend.”
(Friend. He is not my boyfriend.)
Estrada showed photos of Guo and Calugay sitting beside each other, which the dismissed mayor later explained were taken during a Kasalan sa Bayan in Sual town and that other politicians were also invited.
The senator later showed photos of flowers from Calugay that were allegedly given to Guo.
“Ang daming bulaklak o. Sana all. Tapos tinanggap mo, tama? Ngayon inaamin mo ba na wala kayong relasyon?” Estrada said.
(There are many flowers. Wish all had those too. Then you received them, right? Now are you admitting that you have no relationship?)
“Hindi po tama ‘yung amin, dahil wala naman po kaming relasyon,” Guo answered.
(It is not right to say I am admitting because we do not have a relationship.)
When Estrada asked Guo how far is her relationship with Calugay, Guo reiterated that they are friends.
Guo was also asked about an aquafarm named “Alisel Aqua Farm” allegedly owned by her and Calugay.
“Alam ko po, hindi siya existent. Wala pong ganu’ng farm po,” Guo said.
(I know that it doesn’t exist. There is no such farm as this.)
“Kasi if you coined the name Alisel, Ali is for Alice, Sel stands for Liseldo. ‘Di ba? Tama? Baka nagkataon lang? Ano? Are you aware of that? Hindi ba kayo owner na Alice Guo at Liseldo Calugay?” Estrada said.
(If you coined the name Alisel, it’s Ali for Alice and Sel stands for Liseldo, right? Maybe it’s just a coincidence? What? Are you aware of that? Aren’t you and Calugay the owners?)
“Wala po akong aquafarm po doon sa place nila,” Guo replied.
(I do not have an aquafarm in their place.)
Guo further said there is a proposal to establish an aquafarm but she does not remember the name and if the plan pushed through.
She later said she was planning to build a farm in Sual town but it does not include Calugay.
The Senate committee has issued a subpoena against Calugay for failing to attend the hearing.
GMA News Online has reached out to Calugay but has yet to respond as of this posting. —KG, GMA Integrated News
