Mister President, with the indulgence of the sponsor, I would like to co-sponsor Senate Resolution No. 617 entitled: Resolution 618 Taking Into Consideration Proposed Senate Resolution No. 639 Entitled: Resolution Commending and Congratulating the Philippine National Men’s Basketball Team Gilas Pilipinas for winning the gold medal in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games Men’s Basketball Championship.
Mister President, I have also filed Senate Resolution 639 entitled: Resolution Commending and Congratulating Gilas Pilipinas Men’s National Basketball Team for Winning the Gold Medal at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games Held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The astounding performance of our Gilas Pilipinas Men’s Basketball Team who successfully reclaimed the regional championship title thereby re-establishing the country’s stature as a basketball powerhouse in the South East Asia region is truly another good news for all Filipinos. Dahil alam naman po natin na ang basketball ay isa sa mga unofficial national sports nating mga Piilipino.
The Gilas Pilipinas Men’s National Basketball Team demonstrated discipline, resilience and perseverance which are positive values that their fellow athletes and the younger generation can emulate. Their success story showcased the indomitable Filipino spirit and world-class caliber, as it brought pride, joy, and honor to the nation which professes immense passion for basketball.
Their momentous accomplishment in the international tournament merits commendation and recognition from the Philippine Senate.
