Perks of becoming a senior: Jinggoy delighted to get discount on restaurant bill

(POLITIKO) Senator Jinggoy Estrada just turned 60, and wasted no time in taking advantage of those senior citizen perks.

The senator recently dined at a local restaurant and flashed his senior card to score a sweet discount on his bill.

Under the law, Filipinos aged 60 and above are entitled to a 20 percent discount and VAT exemption on sale of goods and services from establishments, including restaurants.

In a social media post, Estrada shared a video of getting a discounted restaurant check, proudly displaying his #seniorcitiSenJinggoy status.

“Wow!” Estrada said in the clip upon seeing the restaurant bill.

“Ito na yung first time kong gagamitin ‘yung aking privilege as senior citizen. Sakto ha… 60 ha,” he said, giving the waiter his senior card.

Estrada, son of former President Joseph Estrada, turned 60 on February 17. A birthday party was thrown in honor of the senator, with family and friends in attendance.
