‘AN END OF A SIGNIFICANT CHAPTER IN WORLD HISTORY’
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine senators on Friday mourned the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch who died at Balmoral Palace on September 8 at age 96.
In separate Twitter posts, Senators Joel Vlillanueva, JV Ejercito, Nancy Binay, Raffy Tulfo, Francis Tolentino, Sonny Angara, Jinggoy Estrada, and Aquilino Pimentel III conveyed their condolences and prayers, joining the rest of the world in expressing sadness over the queen’s passing.
Villanueva said: “We join the whole world in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her decades of leadership is a legacy that will live on for generations. This is definitely an end of a significant chapter in world history.”
“Rest in Peace, Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” Ejercito, meanwhile, said.
Sharing a photo of Buckingham Palace, the administrative headquarters of the monarch, Binay said: “RIP Queen Elizabeth II.”
“Tayo po ay nakikiramay sa pagpanaw ni Queen Elizabeth II,” Tulfo, for his part, said.

Tolentino posted a black and white photo of the queen and captioned it: “Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth II.”
Angara, on the other hand, said: “Condolences to the people of the United Kingdom.”
“The world mourns the loss of a great leader who has served well her country and the Commonwealth for seventy years,” Estrada tweeted Friday.
Pimentel, in extending his sympathy and condolences, noted that Queen Elizabeth II “was a symbol of power, stability and, most of all, women empowerment.” – Daniza Fernandez/ INQ
