Fourth time’s the charm: Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada took his oath as Senate President Pro Tempore following a nomination from Sen. Ronald dela Rosa during Monday’s opening of the 20th Congress, July 28, 2025. Estrada holds the distinction of being elected to the position the most number of times. He was first elected to the post in 2007 during his first term as senator, and again in 2013 during the 15th Congress. He once more assumed the position last year, two years after returning to the upper chamber. Estrada was accompanied by his daughters, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary and National Authority for Child Care (NACC) Executive Director Janella Ejercito Estrada and Julienne – as well as his brother, Sen. JV Ejercito.
