Jinggoy questions anew the continuing existence of the Optical Media Board (OMB) : Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada once again raised his proposal to abolish the Optical Media Board (OMB) during Tuesday’s continuing budget debates on November 12, 2024,arguing that the agency’s objectives, duties, and responsibilities have been rendered obsolete by significant technological advancements in the media landscape. Estrada, who expressed the same concerns during the 2023 budget deliberations, vowed to pursue the passage of his bill to abolish the OMB and transfer its 52 employees to the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) to avoid displacement.
