Jinggoy wants more teeth to workers’ right to form unions: Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada files a bill seeking to boost the rights of workers to organize by making it a crime for employers and government authorities to interfere with or harass those joining workers’ unions. Senate Bill No. 2735 or the proposed “Strengthening the Freedom of Association of Workers’ Act,” seeks to address gaps in the Labor Code and reinforce the implementation of Article III, Section 8 of the 1987 Constitution which guarantees the right to form unions, associations, or societies without restriction.
