IRR for Eddie Garcia Act now in place: Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada expresses gratitude to stakeholders, colleagues in Congress, and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for their collaboration in formulating the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the newly enacted law, Republic Act No. 11996, also known as the Eddie Garcia Act. The law ensures workers in the movie and television industry coverage in social welfare benefits and insurance for work-related incidents, including deaths, as well as protection from all forms of workplace abuse. Movie and TV companies are mandated under RA 11996 to develop a mechanism to address and resolve sexual harassment complaints, Estrada, who steered the passage of the measure in the Senate, said following the ceremonial signing of the IRR on Monday, September 30, 2024.
