Jinggoy Estrada: Gov’t worker salary hike honors their hard work, dedication

(POLITIKO) Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada has lauded the decision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to increase the salary of government workers.

“The prompt action to implement a salary increase for government workers is a commendable demonstration of the government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of our civil servants,” he said in a statement on August 1.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman earlier said the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) is crafting an executive order that will detail the salary increase that will run from 2025 to 2027.

Marcos said during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) that the first of the four-tranche salary hike will be released this year.

“I am grateful that the Executive also heeded my recommendation to implement the four-tranche salary increase through the issuance of an EO (executive order) and to apply it retroactively,” said Estrada.

“This action shows our appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our government workforce and helps create a fairer and more competitive compensation system,” he added.
