Saguisag, a ‘rare gem’ in PH politics: Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada joins colleagues in honoring the life and achievements of former Sen. Rene Saguisag whom he described as a rare gem in Philippine politics. Estrada, in his filed Senate Resolution No. 1017, said Saguisag was an active voice and one of the major figures of the opposition while serving as an ardent human rights defender. Saguisag was able to provide free legal aid even while he was in prison. “A true patriot, he served as a brilliant inspiration to all Filipinos for his work as a lawmaker, human rights defender, and a well-respected journalist,” Estrada said.
