Jinggoy Estrada to employers: Give incentives to employees working amid extreme heat

(POLITIKO) Senator Jinggoy Estrada has called on employers to show compassion and give incentives to employees who continue to work amid the hot weather.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada has urged employers to give incentives to their employees who continue to work despite the ongoing heat waves.

“Mahalaga na bigyan ng pagkilala at pagpapahalaga ang dedikasyon ng mga manggagawang nagtatrabaho sa gitna ng matinding init,” said Estrada.

“Providing additional incentives or benefits to those who brave the heat to keep our economy running during weather disturbances is fair and shows our commitment to their well-being,” he added.

The senator noted that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued Advisory 17-22 which states that: “Employees who fail or refuse to work by reason of imminent danger resulting from weather disturbances and similar occurrences shall not be subject to any administrative sanction.”

“I call upon employers to go beyond the minimum requirements outlined in DOLE Advisory No. 17-2022,” he said.

The senator said employers should “exercise compassion and understanding during extreme weather conditions.”
