(ABANTE) Nagpahayag ng pagkadismaya si Senador Jinggoy Estrada matapos igiit ng ilang lider ng Kamara de Representantes ang kanilang posisyon sa isyu ng pagboto sa Charter change (Cha-cha).
Ito’y matapos sabihin nina Senior Deputy Speaker at Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr. at Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre na hindi katulad ng Resolution of Both Houses No. 6 ng Senado, ang RBH No. 7 ng Kamara na mas constitutional at sumusunod sa batas.
Sinabi ni Estrada na nirerespeto niya ang opinyon ng mga kapwa mambabatas sa Kamara subalit naniniwala siyang mali ang interpretasyon ng mga ito sa Saligang Batas.
“The power to propose amendments to the Constitution was given not to a unicameral body, but to a bicameral body—which is what we have today–composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives,” ani Estrada.
Binigyang-diin pa ng senador na ang salitang “Congress” sa probisyon ng Konstitusyon ay tumutukoy sa buong lehislatura at hindi lamang sa Kamara. (Dindo Matining)
