Proposed Senate Resolution 684, taking into consideration Proposed Senate Resolution Nos. 695 and 714
RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING JAMES ARANAS AND JOHANN CHUA FOR RULING THE 2023 WORLD CUP OF POOL 9-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP HELD FROM JUNE 27 TO JULY 2, 2023 AT THE PAZO DE FEIRAS E CONGRESOS DE LUGO IN LUGO, SPAIN
Mr. President, this is to convey my warmest congratulations and commendation to our newly-minted national sports heroes – James Aranas and Johann Chua – for winning the 2023 World Cup of Pool held in Lugo, Spain, and securing for the Philippines our historic fourth title.
Dahil po sa kanilang pagkapanalo, the Philippines now possesses the most number of championship trophies from the said competition in its entire history. Buong pagmamalaki po nating sasabihing Pilipino po ang naghahari sa sport na ito.
Kasunod po sa kanilang ipinakitang husay at galing, naungusan rin ng mga Pinoy ang Tsina, na mayroon ding 3 kampeonato sa mga nakalipas na edisyon ng paligsahang ito.
Tunay na kahanga-hanga ang kanilang tagumpay dahil naibalik nila sa bansa ang inaasam na tropeo matapos ang isang dekada, mula nang magwagi ang ating mga kababayang sina Dennis Orcollo at Lee Van Corteza noong 2013 sa London.
Hindi po nakakapagtaka na sina Aranas at Chua na po ang maituturing nating bagong legendary duo sa pool, at sumusunod sa yapak nina Orcollo at Corteza, at Efren “Bata” Reyes at Francisco “Django” Bustamante na dalawang beses naghatid ng pinakamataas na karangalan sa bansa kasunod ng kanilang paglahok sa parehong kompetisyon.
May I place into the record some portions of Senate Resolution No. 695 which this representation filed last July:
“Aranas and Chua’s impressive achievement in the international sports stage, which brought great honor and pride to the country, and their masterful display of technical skill, unparalleled teamwork and fortitude against formidable opponents, are feats worthy of recognition from the Philippine Senate.”
“Their story from being underdogs into unexpected champions toppling high-ranking players and defending titleholders and, in the process, setting off the country’s resurgence and supremacy in the sport, can inspire the entire nation into overcoming current adversities and challenges.”
