SENATE TACKLES CAREGIVERS’ WELFARE BILL: Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development chairperson Sen. Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada defends Senate Bill No. 2019, or the proposed Caregiver’s Welfare Act, during Tuesday’s plenary August 8, 2023. The bill seeks to institute policies that would protect and ensure the welfare of caregivers in the practice of their profession. Estrada said the measure encourages caregivers to get certified so they could take full advantage of the benefits provided under the proposed law, such as the grant of 13th-month pay, leave benefits, and overtime pay, among others.
