(ABANTE) Dapat manindigan ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas sa kanilang claim at pagdepensa sa interes sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Ito ang sinabi ni Senador Jinggoy Estrada kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng ikapitong anibersaryo ng pagkapanalo ng makasaysayang desisyon ng Hague na pinaboran ang Pilipinas sa alitan sa China sa South China Sea.
“It was not only a victory for the Philippines but also a triumph for international law and the principle of sovereignty,” sabi ni Estrada sa isang statement.
“It reinforces our resolve to protect the Philippines’ territorial and sovereign rights. We must continue to assert our claims and defend our rights with utmost diplomacy,” dagdag pa niya.
Dapat umanong alalahanin ng bansa ang sakripisyo ng mga Pilipinong mangingisda na umaasa sa kanilang mga huli sa karagatan para sa kanilang kabuhayan, gayundin ang katapangan ang mga sundalong nagpapatrulya sa West Philippine Sea.
“It is our duty to protect them and ensure their safety. We owe it to them and to future generations to remain steadfast in working towards a future where disputes are resolved peacefully, maritime resources are protected, and the rights of all nations are respected,” diin ni Estrada.
Sa panig naman ni Senador Francis Tolentino, mahalaga para sa gobyerno na manatiling matatag ang posisyon sa West Philippine Sea.
“We should be consistent in all approaches—diplomatic, engagement with other allies, and even in other things, like ‘psychological swarming,’ like the scene in ‘Barbie’ that should have been removed,” ani Tolentino.
Nanindigan si Tolentino sa kanyang pagtutol sa pagpapalabas ng Hollywood movie “Barbie” dahil sa pagpapakita doon ng nine-dash line claim ng China.
“We are now celebrating the 7th year of the Arbitral Ruling but we allow the Filipino youth to see that 9-dash line scene in the Barbie movie? We should be consistent, the swarming activities happen because we get sidetracked by other things,” punto ng senador. (Dindo Matining)
