(REMATE) MANILA, Philippines – Isusulong pa rin ng Senate Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resources Development ang legislated wage hike sa kabila ng pag-apruba sa P40 increase sa arawang sahod sa Metro Manila.
“Amid calls for an across-the-board pay increase being sought by the labor sector, the P40 grant in the daily minimum wage by the NCR Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) is a welcome development,” ayon sa committee chairman na si Senador Jinggoy Estrada.
“Nevertheless, this does not mean that bills proposing adjustments in workers’ wage rates which are currently pending before my Committee on Labor, will be put on the back burner,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Ani Estrada, ang usaping ito ay tututukan “as soon as Congress resumes its Second Regular Session.”
Inilabas ng senador ang pahayag makaraang ianunsyo ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang kautusan ng Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board na nagpapataas sa minimum wage sa NCR.
Ayon naman kay Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, naunang humiling ng P150 across-the-board minimum wage hike, na ang kamakailang kautusan ng NCR RTWPB ay isang “wonderful development: para sa mga manggagawa, ngunit sinabing hindi pa rin ito sa apat.
Noong Marso ay naghain si Zubiri ng panukalang magdaragdag sa minimum wage sa mga empleyado sa mga pribadong kompanya sa P150 dahil sa lumalalang inflation sa bansa. RNT/JGC
