(POLITIKO) Senator Jinggoy Estrada is known for his political career, but it turns out he is also a whiz in the kitchen.
Estrada dropped a new video on Youtube showcasing his cooking skills. In the episode, the senator can be seen whipping up one of his signature dishes, “Bangus ala Pobre,” with ease.
The cooking episode carried the caption “BANGUS ALA POBRE RECIPE! Siguradong mapapa-extra rice ka sa sarap kapag natikman mo ito!”
Estrada’s love for bangus runs deep. At the start of the video, he shared that his mother, former Senator Dr. Loi Ejercito, has a milkfish farming place in Zambales, which makes the dish all the more meaningful for him.
The senator also recalled giving away bangus from his mom’s farm to his San Juan townmates during the pandemic lockdown in May 20202. But he faced some trouble with authorities over alleged quarantine violations due to his fish distribution.
“Dito sa San Juan, memorable din. Dito ako pinakulong ng mayor ng San Juan sa pamimigay ng bangus,” he quipped.
After sharing his special connection with bangus, Estrada proceeded to cook the dish where the milkfish is fried and topped with soy sauce, garlic and onions. In sharing the recipe, he touted that Bangus Ala Pobre is simple, delicious and affordable.
