Jinggoy hails PH men’s and women’s softball teams for SEA Games feat
SAYING that the twin triumphs of the national squads not only boosted the country’s medal tally in the recently concluded Southeast Asian (SEA) Games but also reaffirmed the Philippines’ dominance in regional softball, Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada has filed a resolution commending the feat.
“The Blu Girls’ and Blu Boys’ noteworthy achievements in the SEA Games bring immense pride and honor to the country, and they deserve commendation and recognition from the Senate,” Estrada said in his Senate Resolution No. 246.
“These victories showcase the discipline, teamwork, and fighting spirit of Filipino athletes,” Estrada added, noting that the achievements of both teams serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a testament to the country’s growing strength in international sports competitions.
The RP Blu Girls again proved unstoppable as they swept all their matches and successfully defended their crown with a convincing 4–1 victory over Singapore in the finals. The team maintained a flawless record throughout the tournament, overpowering regional rivals Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and host Thailand. With this latest win, the Blu Girls secured their 11th consecutive SEA Games gold medal, remaining undefeated in women’s softball for 46 years since their SEA Games debut in 1979.
Led by head coach Ana Santiago, the Blu Girls’ historic achievement stands as one of the most remarkable dynasties in Philippine sports.
Meanwhile, the RP Blu Boys reclaimed regional supremacy with a dominant 3–0 shutout of Singapore in the gold medal match, avenging past setbacks and capturing their ninth SEA Games gold medal since 1979. Under the guidance of head coach Jasper Cabrera, the men’s team delivered commanding wins in the preliminaries and capped their campaign with a championship performance worthy of national acclaim.
Through his resolution, Estrada wants the Senate formally recognize the Blu Girls and Blu Boys for their outstanding performance, consistency, and excellence, honoring them as role models who continue to elevate Philippine sports on the regional stage.
