JINGGOY SEEKS TO BOOST MTRCB BUDGET FOR 2026
Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, chairperson of the Subcommittee “B” of the Senate Finance Committee, vows to restore the proposed budget of P284.55 million of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) for 2026. During the marathon hearings on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Estrada expressed concern as to how the MTRCB could fulfill its mandate in reviewing thousands of materials for film and television with a meager budget of P221.3 million as recommended in the 2026 National Expenditure Program. “This Committee will recommend to bring back the amount that your agency submitted [to the Department of Budget and Management].
