The FDCP, under the Office of the President, was established under Republic Act No. 9167 on June 7, 2002. The agency is tasked with developing policies and implementing programs aimed at advancing the art and craft of filmmaking, while also promoting the production of films for commercial purposes.
The agency also envisions to provide quality public entertainment that enriches lives, explores human and social conditions, and upholds the dignity and nobility of the human spirit. Additionally, the FDCP seeks to capitalize on the country’s competitive advantages as a prime location for international film and television production—with the goals of generating income, boosting tourism, and enhancing the nation’s global image in terms of promoting films.
