(ABANTE) Ikinabahala ni Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada ang pagbaba ng unemployment rate sa bansa sa 4.1% ngayong taon mula sa dating 4.3% noong nagdaang taon.
Nangangahulugan ito na 2.11 milyong Filipino ang jobless nitong Mayo, base sa datos Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
“Any rise in unemployment is worrying and underscores the pressing need to address underlying challenges,” sabi ni Estrada.
“While a drop in underemployment may appear positive initially, the significant decrease suggests potential problems in the labor market. This indicates that there are still people who are finding it difficult to secure adequate or appropriate employment,” dagdag pa niya.
Dahil sa sitwasyong ito, sinabi ni Estrada na dapat magkaroon ng kooperasyon ang mga mambabatas, mga ahensiya ng gobyerno at private sector stakeholders para makapagbuo ng solusyon sa probleman ito.
“These solutions include creating sustainable and high-quality job opportunities, investing in skills development programs to match the workforce with industry demands, and implementing economic policies that support fair employment practices and job creation,” ani Estrada.
“Hindi tayo dapat maging kampante. Indikasyon ito na marami pa rin sa ating mga kababayan ang nangangailangan ng tulong upang matugunan ang pangangailangan ng kanilang pamilya,” dagdag pa ng dating chairman ng Senate committee on labor, employment and human resource development. (Dindo Matining)
